4x4s have been a part of my life since 1974, I’ve have been driving them since 1982, writing 4×4 books since 1990 and making 4×4 TV shows since 1999. I have owned 10 4x4s and equipped every one of them, with varying degrees of success. With Autograph I am going to use my knowledge and those of several other people who I consider exceptionally experienced in this field, and put it all together to create the most fantastic overland 4x4s possible – and sell limited numbers of them.

The key is not to modify the original vehicle design, because how can I possibly improve on all the research and brains that go into a vehicle designed by a corporate giant? But what I can do is adapt. I figure that all four-wheel drives are a compromise; some toward the concept of over-landing and others away from it, to being street-smart. The ideal vehicle is good at both, but no standard vehicle ever is. But with adaptation, using the best equipment the world has to offer, Autograph vehicles are all superbly equipped, eminently practical and a joy to live with, and among the most stunning-looking 4x4s on the planet.

The idea is to cherry-pick the very best auxiliary equipment on the market, sometimes having it even further adapted and then have each vehicle hand assembled, not by a traditional 4×4 equipment centre, but by people who have years of experience building race cars, repairing damaged vehicles and who know how to rebuild a vehicle from scratch, if needs be. Doing it this way means we achieve quality control hitherto unmatched in this industry. I personally am approving every piece of equipment on each vehicle, and stake my reputation that all these vehicles are something out of the ordinary.
