TV Series 4WD-TAKE A DEEP BREATH season-2

Andrew St.Pierre White’s adventure travel TV series, first broadcast in October 2009, is now back in production as his audience of overland adventurers eagerly await his next adventures.

The 2010 season is a nostalgic look at what made an English boy fall in love with Africa. Andrew retraces his steps recalling the time when having been taken to the Okavango.

This 66-day expedition begins with a solo trip through Namibia (Andrew is one of a very small group of TV adventures that is not backed up by a team of TV crew and their supporting entourage). Andrew truly goes it alone.

When he reaches the Kunene, the river dividing Namibia with Angola to its north, he meets a group of travelers waiting to take him into Angola. His quest is to find the source of the Okavango, in the highlands, and then to follow the river deep into the Okavango and to then watch as the water disappears into the desert.

Mostly a travelogue type programs, it includes an expedition into the remote Kalahari, extracted from the videos, ‘Exploring the Kalahari – An Adventure in Time travel’. This series also includes a lot of 4×4 driving including brake testing, skid control, deep water wading… video not found anywhere else. This series was completed and broadcast in 2008.

Historical

My first 4×4 was a 1971 Range Rover and I collected memorabilia… and these videos are part of my collection.

When we shoot, our aim is to capture six minutes worth of completed screen time per day. Because we shoot at a ratio of about 10:1, this means we need a minumum of 60 minutes of footage in the can every day. On a whole, this happens only rarely, especially on the travel shows. But occasionally it does. When on a shoot, we always have a camera ready to capture whatever happens. And when it happens, expected or unexpected, it normally appears in the TV shows. But occasionally it doesn’t.
So the footage here, in general, represent those wonderful occassions where we have too much footage for the episode planned. It does not appear on any of the DVDs we have published, and what you download from here is the first and only time it has left my cutting room.
I strongly recommend that you watch the episodes first, then the deleted scenes.
